"Dive Into Python" is a bit heady. I felt that Mark Pilgrim dives into
Python fast and deep. If you're looking for a little more breadth,
albeit in more pages, Mark Lutz's "Programming Python" [a] or Lutz &
Ascher's "Learning Python" [b] are pretty good.

A couple more recommendations: hang out on the Python Tutor list [1]
for help, the leafe.com ProPython list for some folks who can speak
FoxPro and Python, find a local Python group [2] (we have
www.pysig.org in Manchester, NH), and take some time to read around
the python web site -- http://www.python.org/doc/ has lots of good
materials.

Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask questions!
