I worked at a company a long time ago where we had tapes.  I just took
the previous day's backup with me when I left for the day.  On Monday, I
brought back the tapes, minus one.  My car became the offsite storage. <g>

With HDs, you'd want to encrypt the data on the HD so if they get
stolen, no one could read the data.
