Yeah, those things can be a pain. I even bought some third party camera
software and it too was flaky. You can access the cams via http though and
then capture the picture, if you were so inclined.

Speaking of internet, I'm moving from HughesNet satellite to a dsl line next
week and I'll be able to move pics up to my web server. The satellite's fair
use policy is too freaky for me. My internet connection slowed to a crawl
the other day, so I reset the routers several times and it didn't get any
better. I went up to the hughes website to see my usage and it showed no
activation of the "fair use" policy all month (FUP is when you download too
much data, they throttle you way back). I had only downloaded around 100 meg
for the day, and it was after 6pm. I knew things were about to get
interesting because I placed a call to the guy in Bombay (outsourced tech
support). Hello and thank you for calling HughesNet. My name is
Ramishhkaeyser;aldjafy, you may call be Bob. (I'm thinking I'll probably be
calling you lots of things before this is resolved). Well, he was very nice,
but not helpful. His final determination was that I had kicked in the ALMOST
FUP. I said "say what?" He said, "yes, it appears that from your usage, it
looks like you MIGHT download a lot of data." I thought, damn, minority
report is here! Sose, now I'm getting, shall we say, "energized." I asked to
speak to his manager or anyone who had the power to un-FUP me. He puts me on
hold, then after a few minutes he comes back and says he can't find
anyone....

DSL will be installed next week.

Hi,
pmfji - I set up a linksys camera to do this - setup was the usual game of
guessing what the manual meant to say, but I managed it eventually (be sure
to set up security on the camera and if you're using a wireless router on
that as well).
Remote access worked OK but relies on an Activex being loaded wherever you
want to access from (you can download it from your/ their website or I used
a memory stick). There was also a remote viewer program that was a bit
flaky. The big disappontment was the motion detection software, it reacted
to changes of light levels e.g from cars passing nearby - my email was
swamped and I had to turn off the camera - but it still sent me empty
emails from time to time!
