Philip, Sorry for being a little flippant re the memory. Now you have said exactly what you want to do I can ensure you that VFP works no problem on 2K3 64bit. My development server has been running it for about 6 months no problem with the VFP development system on the server and also just using the server to farm out the application data to test clients.
The only glitches I have found are with Terminal Server on 2K3 64 Bit which DOESN'T perform exactly the same way as on the standard 2K3 32 bit version. Client Windows XP stations will be running the EXE on the workstations with a DBF data. So, my guess is it should have no negative affect on the Application. The authors of the program are just saying it's not certified for a 64 bit server... yada yada... i.e. they have not taken the time to officially test it themselves. I personally don't see it's going to be a problem... but my supervisors won't support anything (as a reseller) if the author does not say it's certified for the 64 bit server. I'm just trying to get feedback from others that are using their VFP8+ apps on Server 2003 64-bit Thanks, Philip Alan Bourke wrote: >Philip B wrote: > > >>Hey all, >>Are there any negative issues with running VFP 8 apps on a Server 2003 >>64 Bit system? >>Any benefits? >> >> >> > >When you say 'running' do you mean that the app is just in a folder on >the server and clients running 32-bit Windows run the EXE from a share? > >In this case it makes no odds, it's actually running on the clients. > >Or is it actually running on the server itself? > >If so, then it will be running in an emulated 32-bit machine, with >implications for speed and scalability I would have thought. > > > [excessive quoting removed by server] _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
