That's not the point. Knowing them they took a picture then copied and
pasted it into word and didn't give a thought to file sizes. Users
expect Magic at all times!! I swear they look at the computer and expect
data to flow from their brains and into the database without touching a
thing!

All I'm asking, is there a programmatic way of running the "Word Image
Compression utility." I could then issue commands to do this as part of
the routine for importing the word document, thus making sure my table
get updated with the smallest word file possible.

What format are the images ?  Would it be possible to have the word docs
use a more economical image format (say PNG  or JPG instead of BMP) ?
