The problem with "foolproof" is that the fools are so clever ;) Email address validation is a nearly impossible task. There's a three page artile in the most recent Linux Journal, iirc, on a PHP solution that's _nearly_ 100% successful. The problem is that the specs on what makes a valid email address (RFC something-or-other) was never intended to be something that could be checked algorithmically. I mean, why would somebody want to give you an address at which they couldn't get mail ;) Here's another couple of elegant to scary solutions: http://www.regular-expressions.info/email.html -- Ted Roche Ted Roche & Associates, LLC http://www.tedroche.com _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
