I don't believe Maliki is a good thing, he is merely the compromise prime minister that it took the Shias' 5 months to decide upon after the Iraqi elections. I think a real change in the tactics of the surge will be to no longer wait for the Iraqi police and army to do a job they are incapable of doing (perhaps because they are agents of the Shia's and more often than not, part of the problem of violence and murder). There can be no good government in Iraq until the violence and murder ends. I hope the good guy to emerge from this mess will prove to be General David Petraeus. Graham.
Perhaps you could elaborate on exactly what makes you think that al-Sadr is not a moderate, given that he is a Shiite, same as Maliki and the majority Shiite Maliki government. Why is Maliki a good Shiite and al-Sadr a bad Shiite? Both Maliki and al_Sadr have military forces that have engaged in combat. Both al-Sadr and Maliki have been accussed of running death squad that torture and then kill Sunni or anyone else that appear to threaten their authority. So tell me why Maliki is good and al-Sadr is bad. _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
