So a beginner asking for advice from experienced people is insulting ?
I'd bet your check against mine that a the majority of people on this list
would disagree with you.

Anyway, here is the page that I got the example from and yes, it does work.
http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_server.asp

Sure I was in the process of making it work when I sent the original
example, but contrary to your belief's, it does work and it works good.

As for my programming skills, and nope, I never set out to be a developer.
I was originally a QA Engineer doing mil-spec testing for texas instruments
when I realized that the software that we were using didn't supply any of
the information that was necessary to make the business run better
(developed in dBase II), so I bought George goley's book and ported it to
foxbase and spent many sleepless nights developing the software.

>From there I graduated to doing contracts modifying sbt and from there to
doing foxpro contracts on a nationwide basis.

Does this qualify me to be a programmer ? Probably so.
Is my heart in development ? Definitely not as I prefer to put together the
systems and let people like yourself that prefer to do development do the
development according to my spec's.

One of these days my good man, you're going to reach a life changing
experience, it could be outsourcing, it could be a family illness such as
cancer or any number of things and you will wake up and realize, hey I don't
know everything.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but life has taught me the hard way, and it didn't
spare the rod, that I'm right.

Here's his example:

http://www.econym.demon.co.uk/googlemaps/examples/example4.xml

That's different output than your script gives...

Did I say otherwise? The exact words I said was "The more accepted way
is a DOM-based
XML parser, such as MSXML", clearly showing that there are other ways
to do this. The primary thing I'm pointing out, is your code does not
create attributes on the <marker/> elements, which based on the specs
I see on google maps and even on the site you linked to yourself, is
the correct syntax...

How did I insinuate that? Just because there's more than one way,
doesn't mean they're all equal. There's usually one that's better than
another, and more often there's a balance of goals. Your method is
sloppy and likely to errors in the end-result XML. Using a DOM parser
makes it impossible to create non-syntactically-correct XML without a
bug in the DOM parser itself-- the con being it can be slower.

It sure would be nice to be making $67.50/hr. I don't make nearly
that-- rather, I make a more humble living as a salaried software
engineer at a small business near the city of Rochester, NY. Nothing
glamorous, but also nothing getting outsourced to India anytime soon.
I also have contingency plans(ones that already make money on the
side) in case this salaried position goes away for some reason.

You've admitted yourself, that you're not a programmer/software
engineer-- you're a project manager. Not being a programmer already,
it is foolish not to take a class or get a book and read to learn some
basics. Asking basic questions that are answered in the first 2
chapters of any intro book on the subject constantly is insulting to
other's time, and is the reason why many of your posts have gone
unanswered here on Profox recently. There should be many ASP books
available for a song on Ebay or Amazon's used stores, etc.
