First, I hate taxes. I hate income taxes. I think income taxes are far
too high. I used to hate the graduated income tax structure and
thought it grossly unfair.

However, in the past few years, I've grown to see the wisdom in it.
The less you make, the more % of your income you are forced to spend
on necessities(not all necessities are really sales tax exempt,
either). The richer you get, the % of your income you have to spend on
food, housing(it's optional to buy a mansion), etc. is less. Graduated
income tax structure helps compensate for this fact and makes sure
that the rich person that makes more pays closer to their fair/equal
%-based share(overall) as the poorer person.
