Basically, MS has to do this to justify ridiculously high prices for 
practically no technical advancement in the OS. I'll betcha the most 
technically challenging code they had to create was the user interface 
stuff - and, of course, that goes into all versions. Being software 
developers we should know it doesn't cost MS any extra to put all software 
features in all versions. They simply take things out to make it sound like 
their all-inclusive version is actually worth the money. It's one of the 
oldest marketing tricks in the book.

And, sadly, it seems most consumers (in the US at least) are still too dumb 
to see through it. But it seems others around the globe are getting smarter 
and rejecting MS. So, at some level, I suppose there's still hope for the 
human race.
