We've had this discussion many times before. Yes, it can be colder in many
places. It is predicted that UK will be much colder in the future because
the Gulf Stream will slow. The cycle is warm water from the equator flows
north past UK keeping UK warm and gradually cooling until it reaches the
Artic. There it cools and sinks. As it sinks it starts flowing south again
along North America to start warming again. and so on. As the water gets
warmer it will not sink as fast when it reaches the Arctic. This slows the
entire movement of the Gulf Stream and will not bring as much warm water to
the UK as before.
