M$ will make out of this royally, to be sure.  They're not going to lose 
money on this, but gain, and perhaps while not huge numbers at first, 
it's just like the drug dealer analogy---the users will be "hooked" on 
their products and hence the future revenues will follow, keeping them 
the richest company in the world.  Even the biggest ABMs must concede 
that point.  (Yes, that's bait for discussion to counter that...)
