I don't know if you'll be able to grill them at all on the GF, but in 
any event, you need to boil them first.  Slice, boil, drain, and then 
fry or better yet - bake.
Coat lightly w/cooking spray or olive oil, sprinkle w/salt, garlic 
powder, and whatever-the-heck-else you like, and bake at about 400 until 
golden brown.

Trying to fry a raw potato just flat out doesn't work, as I found out 
when I was a short order cook, wondering why no one was eating their 
hash browns...
