My primary goal is a joint calendar, and read-only for all practical
purposes. I'd probably email myself a reminder to update the calendar
rather than try to update through the browser, but we'll see. I'm fully
expecting Google Calendar to be fairly robust on a mobile screen.
Compared to, say, ESPN or something else that expects 12x10 res. :)

From there, then we'll see what else is usable....

I had been a Palm user for a while, I think I had a II and a V (that
nifty very slim guy with the curved sides). But just as a PIM, well, I
just wasn't away from my desk THAT much that I used it for more than the
calendar and the (fairly weak) to do list. My To Do list could probably
give Brian Jones a few ideas about logistics. :)

So when it died, I just didn't replace it. Actually, the sync with
Windows was so shaky that it was fairly easy to go back to paper, but I
DO miss having the yearly and more calendar with me.

Bingo. Right now, camera, to do list, phone... I carry a backpack with
me and it's a pain. One device would be great, even though it is a bit
bigger than my current phone, it's ONE DEVICE. :)

And we all thank you for that.

We have a family plan with about 1000 minutes, and we don't usually get
very close to that, but for the extra $10/mo, it's much better than
going down a level that we would probably break and then get nailed for.

>> I have an unlimited data plan to go along with it.

This is probably the biggest issue - data plan. That's $45/mo. PER LINE.
With five lines here.... well, wow. That's kind of expensive just for a
joint, mobile calendar. But it feels like it's almost worth it.

We're a Verizon family since 2001 and have been happy with them. They're
sort of dorks wrt billing and all that, but we virtually never have to
deal with them, so it's been OK. The service - we have just about no
complaints with, so we figure we'll continue on.

If the email app is that bad, then it looks like a topic for another
book!!!!! Wow, from FoxPro to Treo/Verizon. Looks like a winner.

I think I said this - I don't think I'm going to do a LOT of syncing on
the desktop, but that might change too. I look at syncing on the desktop
as a way of backing up the mobile more than anything else.

What would be really great is to be able to download the google calendar
data to the mobile in the event that you can connect; you'd still have
your data with you. That sounds like an app worth writing, actually. And
with a Palm, it might work. :)
