I have it on good authority that remote data access is indeed possible. One of 
my clients uses
GoDaddy for a MySQL database. He has a VFP app running on a desktop 
front-ending the data in the
MySQL database. Foreign DLLs and EXEs is a common issue.

Forget Godaddy they do not allow remote access to data never mind hosting
foriegn dll's and exe's.
