The sequence is that a copy of the dbf is made with a temporary file name, probably without an extension, and possibly in memory if there is sufficient. The undeleted records are then copied across to the temporary file and the original deleted. The temporary file is then re-named to the original name. BAK is the extension used when the structure is modified, the BAK file is the unmodified one; the TBK extension is the associated FPT file.
Is there an orphan temp file in the temporary work area when this occurs?
