The Timeout for Connection Time setting is tweakable, both at the
workstation and the remote server.

BUT .
If on a shared services site - you may not be able to tweak the timeout
for connection time.

I think yer approach is valid - but put your timer object in a high level
oApp object so it has full scope across the application.
