There's a NODATA keyword for the USE command. It's only relevant to 
views. There are also some options to control how tables are opened if 
you are using the DE.

select mytable1.fields, mytable2.fields join mytable2 on 
mytable1.pkey=mytable2.pkey...

vs.

select mytable1.fields, mytable2.fields where mytable1.pkey=mytable2.pkey...
