1. Compression: rather than copying 1 Gb of zeros to 1 Gb of backup disk, it compresses the image and splits it across (adjustable) 2 Gb blocks (for backup onto FAT32 external drives). 2. Ease of use: simple curses-driven (graphics in character mode) format with sensible defaults. I've done this a couple of times, moving partitions onto replacement HDDs, or moving a physical volume into a VM, and it's quick and simple. And it's got a progress bar to entertain you, too. Lessons learned: remember to back up the MBR separately, plan to allocate as much space for restoring (the entire partition size, not just the amount of space used) -- resizing is a separate task. -- Ted Roche Ted Roche & Associates, LLC http://www.tedroche.com _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
