Document scanning is something that really bugs me with Windows. A few years ago I needed to write a small simple app that scanned documents for archival purposes. Nothing special, 1 page per image, black&white.
TWAIN is a problem. It requires you to modify the Windows event handler so that pretty much rules out VB6, VFP etc. Then there's the fact that TWAIN is implemented by the scanner manufacturer so each driver has it's own peculiarities. So I looked at Microsoft Document Imaging (or whatever it's called) but that was only available in certain versions of Office. Then there's Windows Image Acquisition, but it's again up to the scanner manufacturer to implement it. A lot don't, we had an Epson scanner that didn't. There's a million companies who want to charge $$$ for a library. In the end I found a pure VB6 solution. There's some Russian chap who managed to hack the TWAIN API in VB6. -- Paul _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
