So is Pascal, because it teaches good habits. I think Java is far more 
prevalent than C in academia these days. C and C++ are becoming 
languages for tasks where low-level access is required, or maximum 
performance (like games)., or drivers and so on.

 You won't see many enterprise applications written in either these days.
