I'd definitely choose a backend database that can be used on any 
platform, like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Firebird.  That way, you're not 
screwed like you would be if you picked a Windows-only kind of 
database...like Foxpro tables, Access (lol!), or SQL Server.
