I have been using Ubuntu on a desktop for some time and really like it. I got a HP laptop with Vista on it and reformatted it to dual boot Ubuntu and XP. Even though I can't get XP to work 100% I have Ubuntu working 100%! (7.10) It is so slick and easy to use and the community provides incredible support. I comes with one programming language from the start - Python. Ubuntu was significantly easier to install and setup than XP. Also, almost all of the software you would ever need is there or can be easily installed. Many things are different for someone growing up on Windows like me, but easy to learn. I'm still looking for an XP driver for my video.
