They've been using this idea for years in hydro dams etc where there
is not a 24/7 supply of energy.  The idea is that you use surplus
power to spin a heavy lump of (metal/concrete?) stored in a vacuum.
When there is no electricity being generated you use the spinning
object as a generator.

Nice idea but some room temperature superconductors would help...
