No, the "hard drive" is a 4 gig flash drive on which you install OS (Linux or XP) I added 8 gig for data. Client takes it out, and places it in a "flash mover" USB device to transfer data to desktop/server
The system comes with 512 Ram, but that is "standard" laptop ram. I have 2 x 1 gig PC2-5300 in my Compaq nx9440 laptop and I tried in the Asus-EEE.
