This is similar in concept to the batteries that power the new Telsa
roadster.  They found a way to bind the Lithum Ions to a polymer in such a
way that it greatly increased the charge holding capacity of the lithum.

  Read it in either Popular Science or Discover (sorry, don't remember
which).

  Suffice to say materials science is never at a standstill...
