Would not have mattered. It is, IMHO, the suckiest M$ OS released in mass.
A M$ tech told me it was pre-XP that was not really ready for prime-time.
But some marketing shirt felt M$ needed to do something for the new
millennium, and it got pushed out into the wild - ready or not. The only
machines that ran fairly well with ME were PCs that it came on oem (much
like early XP and Vista OS). But what told the whole story was M$'s own web
site that used to cater to bug reports and support for ME, where with the
advent of 2000 Pro M$ stated any remaining ME problems ought to be remedied
by upgrading to 2000 Pro!

In fairness 2000 Pro had issues in its early release (mostly drivers and
needing lots of RAM), XP did the same with driver and RAM demands, much like
Vista. And with the impending SPs 2000 and XP became fine OS platforms to
use (once we all added RAM, got new drivers, etc.). And at least these
platforms were more stable than their previous flavors of 9x and ME, and
brought new features that were needed. But with Vista I still do not see
the point. It is no more stable than 2000 or XP Pro, and once the UAC is
"set up" to let an End User actually get use from the PC it is not any more
resistant to attacks than 2000 or XP. It is maybe slickerier looking than
2000 Pro, not much more so than XP, but the RAM demands and performance hit
just does not make for a good case to move to it. The only good case for
moving to Vista is because XP is going to go away. Soon.

So, what to do. I got my first taste of Ubuntu Desktop v-7.1 this morning.
Perhaps with VFP apps I can't (legally, maybe) move to Linux. But for folks
asking me what to do with the Vista Problem, and have no XP drivers for new
PCs, I think I found a viable solution <g>...

Did they even release a service pack for ME?
