        That's the whole purpose of registering as a member of a particular  
party: to enable you to vote in party-specific events such as  
primaries. In states that do not have such a restriction, it is common  
for voters in a party with an uncontested primary to cross over and  
vote for the weakest candidate in the other party, and therefore  
dilute the wishes of actual members of the party.
