I use the ffdshow codec (based on the ffmpeg library) on my Windows PC
here.  I simply had to enable the Techsmith (TSCC) codec in ffdshow
and it played fine.  Can't you used a Linux ffmpeg based player (most
are) to play it?

Actually I only have 2 codecs, XVID and ffdshow.  Plays pretty much everything.

Looks pretty cool BTW!
