Malcolm, Effectively that is what I am doing. All the scrollbars and sliders are coded so I can effectively do anything I want with them but the basic problem seems to be the "continuous scroll" that I just can't master.
Currently I use the dragover event in the underlying object (scrollbar) to trigger the scrolling but this only fires once unless you move the dragged object from over the scrollbar then move it back over. If anyone would like to have a look I posted the demo project up for examination - does that class as outsourcing? www.replacement-software.co.uk/vfp/Manpower_Planning.zip If you download the project run the init() program first to set all the defaults then the main demo form. What I would like to do is in effect produce a "drag/drop" grid container completely as a class which can be used as a generic component. Most of the spade work is done apart from classing the row and column headers and main grid together. I've had problems floating objects directly on top of VFP's natively rendered scrollbars, that's why I'm suggesting the edge placement technique. I enjoyed your screencam illustration - sounds like a cool application! Let us know what technique you finally end up using.
