My husband and I and almost all of the family are in favor of statehood but
I don't
think that is going to happen in the near future.

The main reason for that is that we have 3 political parties here and each
represent one different formula... One political party in favor of
Statehood, the other for the Commonwealth and the other Independence.
Independence only gets 3% of the votes
so the people don't want that mainly because we have a lot of cubans here
and we know their story and are really afraid something like that could
happen here.  The 97% is divided each election between the other two and
only win for 1 or 2% of the votes which means nobody gets a real mandate for
anything.  All the efforts made so far to make us vote for one formula
include the Commonwealth.
