In the Linux cli world, the defacto net scanner is still nmap, I believe. You target it at a network, say 192.168.1.0-254, and it'll find hosts and identify operating systems, find exposed ports, etc. You can direct it at your network from the outside to find vulnerabilities. Yes, you could direct it at microsoft.com too, but you'd probably be getting some phone calls shortly thereafter. Free *and* open source. :) Paul _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
