Implication: Only "they" would act like this. ie, the assumption is that they're acting like this BECAUSE they're aliens. The "illegal" is a nice mis-direct. I believe beating the mother-to-be is tradition in some countries. ------------------------------------------------ Some countries - not ours. Implicit in both statements is that WE would never act like that only THEY would. "I believe beating the mother-to-be is tradition in some countries" is not, of course, an actual statement of belief (Yeah, I know, Michael will come back and say "yes it is!") but simply a back-handed way to toss fuel on the fire and imply that "they" are less civilized then us. Racist statements don't have to be as overt as "-------- are all dirty lying thieving scum!" The deadliest ones can be the implied meanings delivered most often as "just a joke."
