Thanks for the new DSN. As you may well be aware after my recent posts I'm
just finishing off a set of DataAccess classes and I wouldn't mind testing
them out on a set of remote data so I'd like to ask if it is OK to access
the data on a readonly basis for some testing if that isn’t a problem.

You know the score, your programs always work on your own data!

Dave and others reported that the connection string failed, and when I 
checked with my ISP, that database server had been scrubbed.  So he's 
kind put up another for me for the purposes of this demo.  Here's the 
correct string you should have in the dsn.ini file:

DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 3.51 
Driver};SERVER=db1.dssco.net;UID=piecerate_test;PWD=yooth4ge;DATABASE=piecer
ate_test;option=131609
