For better or worse, I gave up on that machine --- it just doesn't make sense, and I don't have any more time to fuss with it. I noticed that my main development box had SATA connectors open on the motherboard, and I thought I'd just use those. In fact, I've changed my mind about that, too, at least for now. I realized that I had extra EIDE capacity on my Linux/Ububtu machine, and I mounted one of my new drives there. Now I am just trying to figure out how to get the other machines on my network (W2K, Mac OS-10.4 and my Dearest One's Vistabule) to connect to the Linux machine. I have this question open on ProLinux, but if anybody here knows, I'd love to hear it.
