Kristyne, I think the difference we have here is that you are willing to give
these scientists the benefit of the doubt because you believe the have good
intentions. I, on the other hand, see them as charletans milking the 'global
warming' nonsense for every grant dollar they can. Science has been wrong
before, but never so profitable. When it comes to these people screwing up my
life and costing me money, I become very sceptical. Unlike you, who appear to
take them at their word on the theory we can't take a chance, I see their work
as something that had better jolly well be 100% accurate before I would give
them free riegn to monkey with society.
Whatever happened to the science laureates who in the 70's were warning us of
the coming freeze? They now want us to accept the "oops we were wrong then"
and follow them like lemmings into their new fiasco based on probably faulty
modeling.
How much liability are they willing to shoulder if their predictions turn out
wrong after we've trashed our economy to make them happy? What will they say
to the parents of some kid in a puny electric car that gets run over by an 18
wheeler? There are consequences to following the path. We know the
downside... we are asked to accept on faith the upside. Not being of the Big
Brother Knows Best orthodoxy, I cannot do this.
