I have a client that needs to have certain programs run overnight. These programs require exclusive use of the databases. The programs are written in foxpro for windows 2.6. Users are leaving their programs open overnight and therefore the batch overnight programs can't run because they can't get exclusive use of the databases.
I can rewrite the programs in a later version of foxpro and incorporate timers to automatically shutdown the programs at a certain time. These programs would be way too expensive to convert to a later version. Does shutting down the server and rebooting it automatically shut down the shared files gracefully or would it cause damage to a file should one be locked and a record being added? Would scheduling a server reboot before the overnight programs run fix my problem? How would you fix this problem? _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
