It is stupid since her parents were there the whole time and had to
approve it.  I think they were trying to make her look older since
Vanity Fair is not geared towards teenagers.  Publicity is publicity -
good or bad.

To answer your question about how much did they Leibovitz.  It doesn't
matter.  Vanity Fair got their money's worth in advertizing.
