Perhaps it is meant to be spelled as "COLD", <g>...

I lived in Eau Claire, WI, about 80 miles east of Minneapolis. For both
winters I lived there the temp dropped to -45F (add wind chill and it
was -65F!) for several days on end. I had an engine block warmer I kept
plugged in when parked in my garage, and a "hitching post" at the office
where I could also plug in the engine block warmer. The battery was so cold
it had barely enough output to crank the engine over, even when it was kept
"warm" like that. When I went outdoors I had to wear full protective
coverage for all of my skin surface and eyes, lest any exposed area became
flash frozen and suffer instant frost-bite. It only lasted a few days
before the temp warmed up to -20 or so. The summers were great, and I loved
Spring and Fall.

Regardless, it was indeed god's country with its raw beauty. I still miss
it today, although I find Rochester, NY, a real close 2nd in my favorite
places I have ever lived (Maryland, Texas, Alaska, Kentucky, Central
California, Washington state, Southern California, Hawaii, Arizona, Germany,
Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, NY). South Central Pennsylvania was real nice
also, but in Rochester, NY, our summers are a bit cooler.
