Well I finally received the contract to sign for the extension.  After assuring 
me that the contract would be exactly the same except for the period of 
performance, they changed the termination clause.

The previous clause had an "out" for me if the company "materially breached" 
the contract.  This was something my attorney strongly suggested I put in.  In 
other words, if the company did something that was a clear violation of the 
contract, I had to notify them in writing and have three days for the company 
to rectify it.  If there was no remediation, I could terminate the contract. 

So instead of just taking the contract we both agreed to and signed, and then 
changing the dates, they went back to the pre-attorney review contract.

You couldn't make this stuff up.
