I think only you know that. I don't expect any candidate understands the subtleties of software licensing. Most of my fellow consultants don't. MySQL's always had dual commercial and Open Source licenses. None of that has changed. Sun is going to be shipping commercial-only proprietary backup software for enterprise clients (or maybe not, according to Ed; I missed that.). Not all that different from EnterpriseDB being a commercial side to Postgres. Or Zend offering add-ons to PHP. Or ActiveState and their bundles. Just because it's Open Source, doesn't mean that everyone can't make a buck. I think Sun buying the MySQL commercial enterprise for a lot of money is a very interesting development. Sun's also been pushing the JRuby runtime (Ruby interpreter built on top of a Java runtime) and their new *FREE* NetBeans IDE thats a pretty slick . It will be interesting to see if Sun is able to offer a good alternative to LAMP in OpenSolaris-Glassfish-MySQL-Rails - OGMR! http://developers.sun.com/appserver/reference/techart/rails_gf/ (Standard disclaimer: Of course I'm biased. I develop with some of this stuff. Also, MySQL Core Certified.) -- "When good people do nothing about NF-drift, the terrorists win." Ted "trying to keep NF technology-related."
