The presidency is the highest elected office in the land.
"Give him a chance" is not something I would say in this context. In fact,
it would be taking a chance, not giving a chance.

Abraham Lincoln's resume was a lot deeper with respect to practicing law
longer, being an elected official longer, being a great debater, and
standing for something extreme in a time when it could get you killed. Being
anti-slavery in Lincoln's day is far and away more important than being
anti-Iraq war. I'm surprised that people would denigrate Lincoln by
comparing Obama to him in that way.

Obama isn't that great a debater, he hasn't had serious difficulties in his
life experience, and he did not practice law very long at all. He has spent
longer as a politician than a lawyer, and it shows.
