I wasn't presenting it as conspiracy so much as divine retribution, an order of magnitude more frightening. ;) Actually I was just making a point I thought Bushwhackers like you would appreciate: that many of the things we conservatives supported when Dubya was doing them are going to haunt us when the Obamessiah ascends to the throne in glory. I didn't support many of those things, but I did support Dubya, as it were, "despite those things". Now, in the twilight of his presidency, I sense that the damage he has done with respect to these domestic policies may eventually outweigh any good he did in fighting terrorists and overthrowing dictators. The latter are a dime a dozen and will be with us always. But our economy and our system of government are unique and ephemeral, and he really hasn't done squat to protect either from their foes, both foreign and domestic, when you consider his legacy from a systemic rather than situational viewpoint. This article was one case in point. Faith based initiatives sound great when you're confident they'll be supporting your faith. Similarly, big government spending sounds OK when you think it's being administered by people who supposedly care about fiscal prudence. With the Republicans I have lost any confidence I had. With Obama and the Dems, I have no such confidence. It would be better if government were simply chopped down to size and forced to live according to the laws of economics like all of us are, rather than invading every aspect of our existence and decreeing prosperity by legislative fiat--the practice of our faith being a major one for which our freedoms were secured. There will apparently never be a genuine majority in favor of this until the government sets up gulags in ANWR for global warming skeptics, or the whole thing collapses completely and mayhem descends everywhere. I still maintain that personalizing this to just Dubya is a canard. The whole country went down this path, and the only reason the Dems were panting about it was because they were a minority party and desperately wanted their old power back. Now that it looks like they're getting it back, and then some, they're going to be doing the same things, with a vengeance. We're doomed and damned no matter who we vote for, until and unless people get a clue and stop settling all the time for the lesser of evils, or the prettiest package. We've turned away from being "one nation under God" and have become a nation of hyper-hyphenated physical and intellectual fast-food junkies who think "yes, we can" solve every problem in the universe. This is the root of the matter. Dubya and Obama are ultimately just symptoms (as is McCain, for that matter). - Bob _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
