I'm sure I saw a mention from the poster that he was not interested in
Linux. I don't have the old messages now so cant really be 100%
I still say the same that the averarge person could not do anything much
with the source anyway. Unless it was really required and paid for changes
which is fine.
Also, personaly I don't have any databases getting close to the 2 gig mark
so that's not an issue to me.
Also I never said MSSQL express is better, but I don't see why it should be
discounted from the list either. Not put at the top or bottom but just
included.

No, the original request consisted of seven words that didn't mention many
requirements at all.

This is such trollbait I really shouldn't answer, but...

The average person can:

1. Share open source with their friends without concern the BSA is coming.
2. Pay someone else to make it work the way they want.
3. Benefit from a community of volunteers who enhance it.
4. Never be over a barrel when a vendor discontinues or forces and upgrade.
5. Not be subject to arbitrary limitations (10 users or 4 Gb) on the use of
the product.

Open Source is no panacea, either, but I see it competitive if not superior
in a number of situations.
