Queen Elizabeth's victory over Phillip II, king of Spain, and his Spanish Armada was the most humiliating defeat in Spain's history. Over the next 10 year, after this historic battle, Spain steadily declined and eventual went bankrupt. England entered a period of peace and prosperity after defeating the battle. Does this mean that God favors the Protestant religion over the Catholic religion. I don't believe so. To me it only means that a government, that does not separate church and state, tends to be more prone toward making holy war on both other countries as well as its own people. If anyone gets a chance, they should see the movie, "Elizabeth: The Golden Age", not only because of its historic lessons, but because of its study in deceit and deception that goes on at the highest levels of government, and deceit and deception in government is just a prevalent in today's world, as it was in the late 16th century.
