I don't know about today, but I was doing VFP development on Linux
(Windows wasn't in the picture) back in VFP7 days using WINE. Do a
google on "VFP Linux WINE" and don't get sucked in to the political
controversies surrounding the EULA. :)

It's been several years since I've done this (I run XP in a VM now for
VFP development), so I don't know what has changed, if anything. I do
know that WINE finally reached 1.0 earlier this year, so hopefully
things are even better!

The only thing I couldn't get working at the time was properly building
an EXE - it would build but wouldn't include the version info. So, I'd
develop and test on Linux, and then load Windows to build the EXE, do a
final test, and deploy. It really worked well. VFP was much snappier on
WINE than it was on Windows.

If you use third-party OCX or ActiveX controls, it'll be anything from a
hassle to a showstopper. Sticking with native VFP though, everything
worked peachy.
