Have you tried it w/o having VFP doing all the heavy lifting? Something like: do while not EOF() lcString = alltrim(comments) lcReplaceString = STRTRAN(comments,replicate(['],1000),[]) replace comments with lcReplaceString enddo Just a WAG...
