I've got a great client of mine for years who wants me to expand one of
my software's that I did for him years ago to hook into a new inventory
system he wants me to write.

I'm a bit busy at present but this guy is very accommodating for my
schedule. Nonetheless, I wondered if anyone here was interested in
writing the handheld scanner app to do what we need. I can write the
other stuff. I'd *REALLY* love to use Christof's Guineo project (see
http://guineu.foxpert.com/) or even Dabo (http://www.dabodev.com), but
of course will allow DotNet or others for consideration. The important
thing is that it work well on the handheld scanner within the existing
environment.

It's VFP9 dbc-contained tables at present. I had pitched the idea to
him of letting me upsize it to MySQL as I've done for the apps I
designed for him the last 4 years, but not sure if he'll go for that or not.

Here's the doc on it so far:

Inventory System Profile:

1.Using Hand Held Scanners with data input
2.Bar Code Labels: Attached to bundle
3.Enter Lumber Received: Into scanner then transmitted to the computer
4.Enter Lumber Consumed: Scan bar code label for bundles being removed
from inventory and put on the saw lines for cutting
5.Enter Lumber moved from one location to another
6.Inventory Inquiry: Specific screen views of inventory items showing
data, pieces, board feet and totals so we can schedule cutting and make
and other decisions
7.Inventory Maintenance: Add, Change, Delete to adjust or correct inventory
8.Reports: Specific reports for information and decision
9.Physical Inventory process

NOTE: The inventory system profiles above is only for long length and
precut that we buy. At this time, I am not considering an inventory of
the cut to length lumber. I feel this would be the next step and will
use the same database and programs for long length.

Inventory Data Base Elements:

Master File Lists of Required Information:
Lumber Species Locations Suppliers
Size W x H x L Hardwood Cants Deer Park
Type Cant Bass Boards Cornerstone
                Board Hemlock Precut RGM
                Precut Pine Random Kheops
BF Per Piece ##.## Eucalyptus Plateau Beaver Springs
Cost Per BF Aspen Etc. Etc.
                Per Piece Poplar

Michael: The Lumber and Suppliers can come from the Lumber Tracking
program (*** THIS IS THE EXISTING VFP APP ***)
