I've been buying Dells for quite a few years now. I buy the Latitude
business version, which has American support and which allows more freedom
on the operating system choices. They also don't install a bunch of junk on
the machine that needs to be cleaned off.

The Dell business machines have worked out very well for me. The peripherals
are more standard and therefore last longer for the same investment. Even
after Dell quits selling them I have been able to buy them on eBay as
needed.
