Ed,

We've had a president that was an ex- B Movie actor, a governor in
California that was a Mr. Universe, and some folks that wanted to amend the
constitution so he could run for president. And don't forget the Jesse
Ventura factor.

George W. Bush was a bonehead next to Ann Richards, but he won even though
Democrats ridiculed him incessantly. Reagan won in California while
Democrats laughed at him.

The idea that Sarah Palin is a joke because she used a beauty pageant to
help pay for college is a dangerous choice. McCain-Palin could win, you
know.

Sure, her experience level is less than we might have wanted. However, some
of the choices Obama considered were governors that had a short time in
office too. Frankly, I think that ridicule is not the right approach to take
with the Sarah Palin pick.

Women need to know what Sarah Palin believes with respect to choice, gay
rights, and other social issues. She's further to the right than McCain, and
McCain is quite far right himself. A respectful discourse to expose the
views of the candidates to the light of day is the best way to deal with the
election. Ridicule just shuts down the discussion without convincing anyone.
